Olaf Helbing

Olaf Helbing is an artist living in Berlin, who works as a performer, narrator, musician and illustrator. After studying in Weimar and Barcelona, where he worked as an assistant to documentary film director Jean-Louis Comolli, in 2007 he joined the “Theaterhaus Weimar” artist collective, whose interdisciplinary projects have been performed at home and abroad, among others at Hebbel am Ufer (HAU), Kampnagel Hamburg, FFT Düsseldorf, Theaterhaus Gessnerallee Zurich, in Krakow (Poland) and Riga (Latvia). Olaf Helbing worked as a theatre musician at the Theaterhaus Jena, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Bremen and at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, among others. He has cooperated in music theatre projects of the “Subbotnik” group, designed projects at the “Schwankhalle” Bremen, worked with artists such as Cora Frost and Antonio Cerezo in Mexico, co-designed films by director Susann Maria Hempel and participated in stage projects of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. Olaf Helbing co-designs audio installations for exhibitions as a speaker, and works as a designer and illustrator.
